An EVENTFUL session with the McDaniel's at the farm!

Had a VERY eventful shoot on Tuesday.  I met with a sweet family of 4 kids that I've photographed before at a local family farm.  We started in the small stable with 4 stalls to try to coerce their grandmother's horse into a few pics!

"Jackson" wasn't feeling very photogenic, so we perched the kids on the stall opening and hoped jackson would emerge his head for some of the shots.  After ONLY 12 minutes into the shoot, THUNDER erupted...a girl in the pasture got thrown off her horse and her mom came running for ice.  PRAise God she was OK, but her mom fell in gravel trying to help her.  I took off running and left the mom of 4 (18 mo--12 yr old) with her kids perched on the stall door, to try to find ice with my camera dangling.  THEN, the sky opened up and POURED.  While we were "safely" in a small stable the size of a one-car garage, opened on both sides as rain was flying in from all directions, the water level of the ground outside begins to rise.  Within minutes we were all standing on ~ 2 inches of water.  We all waded through water ~ 1 ft high to reach our respective cars SOAKING WET.  The poor cowgirl closed the door of her mom's Suburban, only to realize that her boots were COMPLETELY filled with water!

Making the most of being stuck--before the water came flooding in!

A little shaky--holding camera with flash while also holding the external flash system up from the water!
